What we collect
When you use How Do I Ship It, we collect the information you provide during the assessment: your project description, tech stack details, and contact information (name and email).
How we use it
Your information is used to generate your production-readiness assessment and send you one email with your results. We may follow up if you request a consultation via the “Let's Ship It” button.
What we don't do
- We never sell your data to third parties
- We never share your contact information with other companies
- We don't use tracking cookies beyond a session identifier
Repository scanning
When you scan a GitHub repository, we download a temporary copy of your code via the GitHub API. Source code is processed entirely in memory and is never written to disk, stored in a database, or retained after the scan completes. The scan typically takes 10–30 seconds.
We only retain the scan results: your Ship Score, category scores, issue findings, and fix suggestions. Your source code is not included in these results.
For Ship Solo subscribers with the GitHub App installed, the same process applies on each push or pull request. Code is fetched, scanned in memory, and discarded. Only scores and findings are stored.
Data storage
Your assessment data is stored securely in our database. Chat transcripts are retained to improve our estimation accuracy over time. Scan results (scores, findings, and fix suggestions) are retained to power your dashboard and score trends.
